So yesterday was a big day for me! I finally got my hair done, I got first laptop as a early Christmas gift and I was able to get Beyonce's CD! Now before I go any further, let's briefly discuss how Queen Bey raised her sizable middle finger at Target.

Beyonce's decision to release her new album exclusively through iTunes did not sit well with other retailers, mainly Target who completely refused to stock her album. A representative of Target stated,“While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach and we have appreciated partnering with Beyoncé in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats. At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce’s new self-titled album ‘Beyonce.’” 

Wow butthurt much? Target competitor Walmart is certainly selling the album though! The ever classy Beyonce addressed Target by simply making a trip to Walmart in Boston and doing some shopping the day her album hit stores. She even got in the intercom to announce to the shoppers that she would giving out free $50 gift cards to everyone in the store. She posted endless pictures on both her Tumblr and Instagram. Damn Bey, you just had to rub it in their faces didn't you? lol!

Moving on, I made a trip to Walmart last night to get the album and I got really discouraged when all of the slots where her album was supposed to be were empty. I had to do a little searching before I was able to grab one of the last three CDs in a different aisle. We opened it in the car and I was already a bit taken back by the CD cover. 

Lol I certainly wasn't expecting that but Ayyyyyye get it Bey! ;)

So we started listening to it in the car and he first three songs were not of any interest to me at all. Honestly, I was bored. So far, my favorite songs are XO, Partition (which contains includes 'Yonce' in the beginning), Flawless (which includes Bow Down in the beginning) and my all time favorite, Drunk in Love. The CD is okay at most. I, and I'm sure a lot of other people as well, are used to not only listening to Beyonce's faster music but prefer it as well. When I listen to Beyonce, I want to get up and dance. They aren't any of those tracks on this album. Yonce and Bow Down are the only songs that are upbeat but you can't really dance to them. They are more like attitude songs like songs that you listen to when you feel really confident and want to flip your weave at a hater. lol hey don't judge me, people actually feel that way! 

I haven't gotten around to watching the music videos, which are included on a DVD in the case, but I can't wait to!

BEYONCE!

OMFG SHE DID IT! Beyonce released her album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Omg I am seriously going through a fangirl freak out session right now!

Okay okay, let me back up. As a surprise to everyone, Beyonce has not only been recording an album but also shooting music videos in secret all while being on tour! And then to top it all off, she released her album and videos on iTunes in the middle of the night on Thursday without telling anyone at all! This album, affectionately titled Beyonce, features 14 songs and came with 17 music videos. Beyonce's fifth album features people like Frank Ocean, Jay-Z and my husband Drake! She even has a song titled "Blue" featuring her daughter Blue Ivy.      

Beyonce calls her new piece of work a visual album. Beyonce released this statement regarding her album,  "I see music. It's more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they're all connected to the music. I miss that experience. Now people only listen to a few seconds of  song on the iPods and they don't really invest in the whole experience. It's all about the single, and the hype. It's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans." Okay Beyonce you did it. You shocked the world and nearly sent me to the hospital after suffering from that heart attack!

 Any who, the album is currently being sold only on iTunes until the 20th. The hard copy CDs will hit stores on the 21st and I will most definitely be there so get one!

Sorry I've been away for awhile guys! I submitted a post on Thanksgiving but I didn't find out until later that it didn't post for some reason. But let's catch up shall we?

I came home on Wednesday for Thanksgiving break. I was really excited because my man was coming home for the holiday and we were planning to spend it together! He picked me up and we spent the day together ^_^. In total, I ate 3 different times on Thanksgiving! Once at my house, once at his family's house and then again at his friend's house. Argh I'm going to be huge! :((((

Unfortunately, I got sick Friday when I woke up. Stomach pains, hot flashes, and I constantly felt like I was going to throw up. And to make it worse, I was still at Babe's house! Just my luck huh? Who wants to get sick around their boyfriend? Especially after spending such a great day together! Luckily, it didn't get too bad until he dropped me back at home where I spent the rest of the day sleeping and puking and sleeping some more. The parentals wanted to take me to the hospital but I refused. I figured it was just because I are too much the day before.

I felt fine Saturday. Got my hair done and even went to the movies with a friend but on Sunday by symptoms came back and my parents rushed me to the Emergency Room. I was released after a few hours when all of my vital signs and tests came back normal. The medicine they gave me for the pain and the nausea didn't work so I found myself right back in the ER again on Tuesday. The doctors deducted it was a stomach virus that should only last a few days. I got new medication and have been feeling better ever since! Well except for the fact that I haven't eaten solid food since Thanksgiving and I won't be able to start again until Friday.   -____-

That just about sums up my holiday. How was yours? :)

So when it comes to my blog, I've chosen to ignore Miley Cyrus for the most part. We already touched on the fact that she can't twerk and to be honest, if she wants to make a fool out if herself then I think we should let her. However, that doesn't mean I won't laugh or call her a whore.

Things Beyonce Would Rather Do Than Release An Album

Queen Bey has a new album coming out soon. Nobody knows when. Nobody knows what it will be called. But we know it'll be good. It's Beyoncé! I mean how could it not?
She's been slaying your favs since 1996, and that's a fact. I'm convinced that she's enjoying torturing us by releasing singles and yet still manages to keep completely silent on any details of the new album. She's even been performing those singles on her current Mrs. Carter World Tour. Thanks a lot Beyoncé. -_- That only makes us want it more! And the worst part is that Beyonce is clearly having WAY too much fun on tour doing things that do not in slightest bit coincide with recording or releasing a new album!

Jesus and Yeezus

So a few days ago, Kanye West brought a real life Jesus onstage while performing "Jesus Walks" at one of his concerts on his Yeezus tour and a whole lot of people had something to say about it. 

Of course Christians and other religious folk found it disrespectful which is a shock to nobody. But what I found to be the most interesting is how some members of the Black community took it. A lot of them were more upset that Kanye had Jesus as a White man instead of as a Black man. Like seriously? -__- Who gives a shit? Jesus is depicted as a White ALL THE DAMN TIME! No matter if it's a movie, tv show, painting etc, and nobody says anything! He's almost always portrayed as a White man. I'm sure nobody walked out of The Passion of the Christ complaining about Jesus's ethnicity. But Kanye does something slightly similar and it's a big deal. 

Now let me clarify, when I say the Black community, I don't mean the fans. I mean Black activist groups and other people like that. Personally, I don't really care. I think it was creative. Nobody has ever done that before and it was pretty cool.

I think people are just looking for a reason to bitch and complain. What's the big deal? Just leave it alone. Who really gives a shit?

Snatching Bey

So about a month ago, Beyonce was onstage in Sao Paulo, Brazil when a crazed fan, shirtless might I add, attempted and nearly proceeded to pulled Beyonce offstage. The fan rushed up to the stage and threw his arms around Beyonce, practically pulling her downwards almost headfirst into the crowd! However, her security personnel was on point with the rescue. They leaped on stage and was able to release Bey from the evil clutches of her kidnapper! I have no idea why I just worded it like that lol I need a life!

Ever the professional, the Beyonce is able to break free and keep on singing, without missing a lyric. Strangely, Bey came to the crazed fan's defense and allowed him to stay in the arena. KMart Creeping

So everyone who knows me knows I have a Nicki Minaj obsession. She's amazing, point plank period. Don't try to debate me on this. You will lose.

Anywho, she's been creating her clothing line with KMart. Within the last few weeks, she posted multiple pictures on her Instagram showcasing her line. Honestly, I was disappointed for the second time. When she announced she was collaborating with KMart, I'll admit I was not happy. I don't like KMart. I don't shop there. Like in all seriousness, who shops at KMart?! I really don't care for it but if I want to wear her clothes, I guess I'll make the trip. :-/ Below are some pictures from the line:

Honestly, I'm not in love with the line.  I love the dresses and the outfits in the first two pictures but for the most part, I'm not impressed. I think some of the designs are just cheap looking.

The Nicki Minaj Collection, as it's appropriately titled, debuts in stores in about two days. I'll do a follow up post when I go to officially check it out.

I'm so sorry I haven't been posting lately! Every time I go to type something up, I can't seem to find anything to talk about. 

I've been so busy lately but I'm going to get back to posting! I promise!

It's homecoming week here at school and I'm mad excited! Our concert is on Thursday and we're having J. Cole, K. Michelle and Migos performing. I haven't bought my ticket yet but I plan on it. It's $30 this year and I just don't have that type of money to blow. Wait let me change that. I have the money, I just don't want to spend it on a concert and be broke for weeks afterward. The college money struggle is real! Lol

 

I live for the FLOPPLAUSE!

So recently Lady Gaga released her first single from her new album ARTPOP. "Applause", as it is titled, was deemed by Gaga to be just plain amazing. I, personally, do not think it's that great honestly. She can do better....much better.

The song was actually leaked about a week before it's supposed release date. The Little Monsters went crazy! This After weeks of annoying promo tweets, Gaga premiered her video in Times Square. As cool as it sounds, it's not really all that creative. Many other artists have done that. *Cough cough* Madonna *cough* But when the video finally premiered, it received lackluster reviews. Even her Little Monsters didn't seem too excited because the video didn't have the best view count or iTunes sales either.

In a not-so-subtle attempt to boost video views and increase sales, Lady Gaga offered her fans rewards for multiple views or iTunes downloads of Applause.

Gaga even tried to scam the charts by tweeting a link to a playlist with about 9 hours of her Applause on repeat:

Billboard now accepts YouTube and Vevo views for their charts. Gaga tried as hard as she could to climb up the charts by using YouTube views. She basically just offered her fans the opportunity to view her video 150 times with that one link. She tweeted the link to her Little Monsters and asked them to pass it on which basically enables them to play the playlist on a tab, put it on silent, leave the computer, and do whatever they choose while still inflating the number of views of her Vevo page, which will help her chart higher on Billboard’s Hot 100 next week.

Billboard's editorial director, Bill Werde found out about the scam and had some words for her. Of course he didn't have the actual balls to say it @ Gaga but he still tweeted it.

The Conjuring

NO SPOILERS! JUST A REVIEW!

So me and a friend of mine watched The Conjuring the other night and it really wasn't all that scary. I'd seen the previews before it was released and I thought it looked pretty boring. I like scary movies but I really wasn't feeling it so I decided to pass. 

Once the movie was released, people just could not stop talking about it. Everywhere I turned, someone was talking about how scary it was. Critics were saying it was a great scary movie so I decided maybe it was worth a try.

We get all ready with popcorn and snacks to watch the movie and honestly, I was disappointed. The first half of the movie was just the usual stuff. Weird occurrences here and there, dramatic suspenseful moments that eventually lacked a frightening outcome. I honestly don't think it got interesting until the last 15-20 minutes. That's when stuff really began to play out and yet even that didn't exactly scare me. By then, the movie had lost my attention. You can't save the good part of the movie for the last twenty minutes! The suspense was there but not the scariness you'd expect from a horror film.

I will say though that because we watched it late at night with the lights off, I was a little freaked out. I didn't want to make the walk back to my room so we both cuddled up on my friend's twin sized bed and went to sleep.

Overall rating: 5 out of 10

Sugar daddies!

Okay so I'm sure everyone has heard of the term sugar daddy before right? If you haven't, a sugar daddy is typically an older wealthy gentleman who longs for the company of a younger often pretty woman. That woman is not-so-cleverly called a "sugar baby".

Sugar babies can be any age but typically she is a young college student who needs money for school, books, rent etc. So instead of getting off their ass and getting a job, they go online and search for a sugar daddy who will pay for all these things. Once a baby has met a daddy, the two of them come up with some sort of a deal or "mutually beneficial arrangement". 

Now contrary to popular belief, the sugar daddy is not always looking for sex. A lot of sugar daddy/sugar baby relationship require no sex at all. The daddy just wants to a young lady to spend time with and show off to his lonely, non sugar baby having friends. Most of these arrangements include a weekly allowance. This allowance is separate from the gifts, trips, surprises, etc the sugar daddy provides. It is also separate from any bills he pays for her. 

So on average, a sugar daddy spends a hefty sum on a girl he's probably not even having sex with. That's a lot to spend on a girl without ever getting any don't you think?

Now of course there are some sugar daddy/sugar baby relationships that do include sex. That's a little strange to me. Isn't that just high level prostitution? Instead of finding her on a street corner, he would just solicit her......"services" in such a way that isn't so low down and degrading. This type of arrangement is different though. These sugar daddies normally aren't so generous. They generally don't shower her with expensive gifts and luxurious trips. They may pay a bill or two here and there but their not exactly spoiling their sugar baby. Honestly, they're just paying for the sex, "pay to play" as they call it.

I'm really unsure on my opinion on this. On one hand, it would be nice to have someone buy you anything you want. I think every girl would love that. I know I would. However, it's creepy at the same time regardless whether sex is involved or not. Whatever happened to being an independent woman? What about having your own money and not depending on a man to provide for you?

I don't exactly know how to feel about this. I don't depend on my man to buy me shit. I don't require him to. I can pay for anything I order at a restaurant or any movie we go see. If I can't afford to go out, I won't. If he chooses to pay (which he normally does), then that's him being a gentleman. A woman should not depend solely on a man to provide for her. I believe a man should pay just pay out of respect and chivalry but in these days and times, if you just assume he will pay, you're very likely to get your face cracked and your feelings hurt.

GUYS!!!!!!!!

My appeal was approved!!!!! I get to stay in school! ^_^ I got the approval email yesterday and I nearly leaped out of my seat! I was really afraid I wouldn't be able to stay in school. In addition to that, we were also able to add an extra $4000 this school year ($2000 each semester) because of a parent plus loan denial. I'm so excited and relieved! 

In other news, I have a new nickname! It started off just as an inside joke between a friend but now everybody uses it. I am officially "TwerkMaster". Lol sad isn't it? It all started in Psych class when this guy introduced himself as "Champagne". He said he's a rapper and he spits so cold that his friend nicknamed him Champagne. The whole class burst out laughing!  But really? Why was that appropriate to say in front of your professor? Especially on the first day! 

I told my friend about it later that day and said it would be just as bad if I stood in front of the class and said, "My name is Erica but you can just call me TwerkMaster E!" She laughed and tweeted it. I put that as my Twitter name so now all my friends call me that. One of them yells it out every time she sees me no matter where we are! In the dorm, in class, in the quad, just anywhere lol FML!

Amanda Bynes' Fall From Grace

Hi loves!

I don't know about you but I used to LOVE Amanda Bynes! Like she was so young and pretty and natural looking and she was funny. I loved her on All That, The Amanda Show, She's The Man and What I Like About You. Her and Lindsay Lohan were my favorite child stars and now they've fallen into the typical child star syndrome. Some people are speculating that she's on drugs and honestly it wouldn't surprise me in the least. I mean look at her!

I mean she's pretty and all but why would anyone aspire to look like, act like or be like a stripper?!

She  seems to be suffering from some sort of mental breakdown though she swears she's perfectly fine and drug free. A few months ago, Bynes set her dog on fire on a stranger's driveway. She eventually found her way to a liquor store to wash the dog off. Her pants leg was also inflamed. 

Now, apart from the animal cruelty, I thought this was hilarious! What the hell is she doing with a small dog and a gasoline container in some random person's driveway?! Whatever she was doing clearly went wrong but what exactly was she trying to do?

Bynes is currently in a psych ward in Los Angeles but it's rumored that she is negotiating a record deal. Amanda Bynes in a recording studio? I don't really see it but ummm I guess there's something for everyone.


I could go on forever about how crazy Amanda Bynes is but then again, I don't have the time nor the patience. *sighs* Oh well, I guess we're all witnessing yet another child star transition into a psycho. 

Dorm Life

Okay so I sort of lied lol I had a feeling I wasn't going to be able to post the next day but I tried! My weekend was really busy with school shopping etc. Oh and my Marine came home! ^_^

So where shall I begin? Ah school perhaps?

I moved back into my dorm last Saturday (the 24th). I have a brand new room and roommate, both of which suck! I'm on the seventh floor now which wouldn't be so bad if the elevators weren't death traps in disguise! For the most part, they work. I just don't recommend using them when you're in a rush. Be prepared to wait at least five to seven minutes for an elevator. We have three elevators. One of which never comes to our floor. It doesn't matter how often or how hard you push the button, it will zoom smooth past our floor and give no fucks! The other two take forever to come, it's almost not worth it if you're on a time crunch and really need to get somewhere. And that's not even the bad part, these elevators are so old and decrepit that they got stuck on a regular basis. Luckily, I've never been trapped in them but I had to take the stairs all the way to the 7th floor today because people were trapped in two of the three elevators at the same time. My thighs burned like hell!

On a much more positive note, my classes are pretty good. Nothing too hard yet and for the most part, the rest of the semester looks fairly positive. I still haven't heard back from financial aid about my appeal yet so that's pretty nerve racking but besides that, I'm doing pretty well!

My roommate however, is another story. She's a freshman but she's not very friendly.....like at all. The first day, she didn't speak a word to me. The whole time we're in the room unpacking, she acted as if I wasn't actually there. I spoke to her a few times but she never spoke back. Honestly, I don't even know the chick's name! -__-

Hmmm I think that's just about all I can rant about at the current time. I was planning a post about the VMAs but it's been so long that it's not even worth it. Everybody knows Miley Cyrus showed her ass (both literally and figuratively) and the rest of the show was just plain boring.

Blueberry Pancakes

Hi loves!

I know I haven't posted in awhile but I've been super busy! School began last week and so much has been happening lately that I haven't been able to post. So seeing as how the semester has begun, I cannot guarantee new posts everyday. However, I will commit myself to one post a week starting tomorrow. I have a lot to fill you guys in on!

Robin Thicke Hates These Blurred Lines

So I'm pretty sure all of you have heard of Robin Thicke's song Blurred Lines. It's one of the biggest songs of the summer and it's being played all the time. I like the song! It's catchy and fun loving. However, it's been all over the news for other, non positive things as well. 

Thicke has been accused of rapey song lyrics, stealing the back beat from the late Marvin Gaye, and for the song's provocative video.

So let's do a lyric breakdown shall we? 

"If you can't hear what I'm trying to say / If you can't read from the same page / Maybe I'm going deaf / Maybe I'm going blind / Maybe I'm out of my mind"

He's basically saying he's being as direct as he possibly can with this girl and since she can't understand it, he feels like he's going crazy. I'll clear it up for you girl, HE WANTS YOUR BODY!!!!

Throughout the hook, Thicke constantly says 

I hate these blurred lines / I know you want it / I know you want it / I know you want it

Robin hates when girls act like they don’t want him even when he knows for sure that they do. Which is pretty cocky and chauvinistic if you ask me.

His reference to “blurred lines” takes in many different meanings. It can refer to girls being interested in rough, dirty sex but having to maintain the good girl image. Hence, the lines between the good girl and the bad girl.

“Blurred lines” can also refer to the moral ambiguity of flirting with a girl Thicke knows isn’t single. Even if she’s in a committed relationship she’s a “wild animal” with independent thoughts, and thus her boyfriend doesn’t own her.
